4 Month Post!

I cant believe it has been 4 months already. It seems like just yesterday I was wobbling around with swollen feet, but here he is...growing way too fast.

We recently took Mason in for his 4 month check up where he weighed in at 16lbs 7oz and has grown to be 27" long (the Dr. let us know that is the average height of a 7 month old, WHOA!)

It's amazing to watch Mason grow and develop. He is so happy, always smiling and loves to talk to the faces he recognizes the most. I love seeing Mason's face light up when Michael comes home from work, and he spends a good 20 min telling him all about our day!  As soon as Mason realized he had hands, they were in his mouth, and they stayed there until he learned that different objects have different textures and those are fun to put in his mouth too! Next was his feet, he has spent the last couple weeks grabbing them, bending into a ball and rolling back and forth. Yesterday and today he has spent a good portion of the days rolling over to his tummy and trying to scoot, crawling must be right around the corner! As for sleep, he has always been a natural at it! He was sleeping a good solid 6 hour block by the time he was 2 months old and it's only gotten longer from there! One night he slept a whole 12 hours :-D. An average night is about 10 hours (I don't know how normal that is for this age, but I'll take it!) Besides watching his favorite show (The Hive) while I shower and get myself ready for the day Mason loves books and being read to. His favorites right now are "Are You My Mother?" and "Mr. Brown Can Moo. Can You?" Like I said, it has been truly amazing watching him grow and develop, his personality is really starting to shine through and I can already tell he is going to be a fun kid, just like his Mommy ;-).

Since I hadn't started my blog back up again until after his other Monthly Birthdays, I leave you with the pictures. It is crazy to look back at these pictures and see how much he really has changed. Seeing him everyday I don't notice the subtle changes but these pictures show changes just from one month to another.

I have loved a lot of things and people in my lifetime but this kid takes the cake!
Until next time,

DIY Wooden Baby Blocks

Hello There!

I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it was such a cute idea to add a little something special to a Baby's nursery. It would be a great Baby Shower gift or if you need an activity as you count down the days to delivery!

You will need...
Wood Blocks
5-6 Pieces of different Scrap Booking paper to cover all sides of the blocks
Letter Stickers
Mod Podge
Glue Stick (they have an "extreme" one now that can be used for wood projects)
Sponge Brush
Sandpaper
**I found all these supplies at Michael's Craft Store, my whole purchase was under $20!!

1. Take a wood block and trace it on each piece of scrapbook paper. 5 per the patterned pages and 10 for the solid page (I used the solid color 2x on each block). Then, cut out the squares. :-)

3. After all the squares are cut out, sand the blocks. I made it so that the corners of the blocks were a little bit more rounded, that's why I traced the squares first because I knew when I sanded them, each block would come out a little bit differently.

4. Take the paper squares and glue a different piece of paper on each side of the blocks. Some pieces of the paper will be bigger than the blocks, trim down as needed.

5. Add stickers to spell out words, a name or the alphabet!

6. Once the glue is dry, mod podge the sides of the blocks one by one. I left one side undone at first to allow the block to sit and dry.

                                                                   And you're done!

The blocks look so cute added to Mason's dresser! Even though the Mod Podge is Non-Toixic, I decided to leave these as a decoration and not toys (I cant imagine that the Mod Podge tastes very good).

Let me know if you have any questions, happy crafting!

Starting Up Again...My Birth Story

Whoa!!
Fast forward 8 months, our little Mason is 3 months old now. So here it goes...MY BIRTH STORY!!

The night of March 28th (my due date) I got home from having dinner with friends and decided to have a photo shoot with my belly. Michael was such a good sport and took all the pictures.

I was woken up the next morning by a very strong contraction. I woke Michael and he said to let him know if it happens again and we will start timing them. I got up to go to the bathroom and, AHHH! I didn't make it to the bathroom. Did I Pee? Did my water break? Google images helped us to confirm that my water did indeed break. My water broke at 5am. We grabbed my hospital bag and went! My contractions got more intense on the way to the hospital and by the time we got there and admitted I was 5cm dilated and my contractions were two min apart...BACK CONTRACTIONS :-(.  I wasn't trying to be a hero so I got an epidural and everything was good after that. I was put into a delivery room, took a nap, did some practice pushes and then it was show time! Except Mason was feeling a little stage fright and didn't want to turn to come out. The Dr. and Nurses kept referring to it as he was laying "sunny side up", a nice way of saying that our spines were rubbing together. I pushed for 4hrs in every position possible to try and get the little guy out and then decided with the Dr. that a C-Section would be the safest option.

After a long day of literally blood, sweat and tears our little Angel entered the world at 6:57PM weighing in at 7lbs 9oz and 22'' long. He was (and still is) perfect.

HUGE shout out to my amazing husband Michael for staying by my side all day long and providing so much support and comfort.

Its been a crazy 3 months but we are loving every second, parenthood is such a rewarding experience and we have only just begun!

First Post!

Where do I start???

I am 21 weeks into my pregnancy with baby #1.

It has been a pretty decent experience so far. I was able to get through the first trimester with only a little nausea and no actual barfing...yay! I almost want this to be my only child so I don't jinx myself with the next one and have terrible morning sickness ;-). Second trimester is going well too. No major food cravings, just been drinking way more liquids than when I wasn't pregnant. One food aversion I have had is chicken, I can not stand the smell if it! I am hoping it goes away soon because I do miss it. The Second Trimester screening went great! The nurse said the baby is very average and measuring/weighing out to be exactly where it should be, I cant wait to meet the little one! I have been feeling the baby a little bit, little flutters and kicks here and there, its going to be so amazing to really feel the baby when it gets a little bigger.

First post will be a little short, I want to start this now so I have something to go back to and look at after the baby is born and continue to post as the baby grows. I should have started this a while ago but better now than  never!
